Friday Film: “Central Intelligence”

For this weeks’ suggestion I am going to take you one year back to a comedy movie that still cheers me up every time I think about it. It is by far my favorite comedy movie, and if you are looking for something that will make you roll on the floor laughing but also has a little bit of action that will keep you on pins and needles at the same time, this is the right movie for you.

This is no other than Rawson Marshall Thurber’s comedy/action movie “Central Intelligence”. Rawson Marshall Thurber is known for the 2013 movie “We are the Millers”, but do not let this cloud your judgment as this movie clearly shows that he did evolve and made something that this time is really worth to watch.

The storyline chronicles Calvin Joyner (Kevin Hart) and Bob Stone (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson), two ex-classmates who meet again after 20 years, only for one of them to get them into trouble with the CIA.

Kevin Hart portrays a once-famous star athlete high school student who is now a forensic accountant and dissatisfied with his carrier, while Dwayne Johnson portrays a once-bullied infamous and overweight high school student who is now transformed into a muscular, confident man. For me, this was exactly what I needed to know in order to watch this movie without even thinking twice.

Furthermore, the characters are well-written and these two actors are perfect for the roles they were given. Kevin Hart delivers his best lines with a hilarious way that can only make you laugh your heart out and you know how good it can really get considering it’s Kevin-freaking-Hart. On the other hand, Dwayne Johnson gives you the chills with his enormous and terrifying body mass and, at the same time, his calm face and his irony during every unreasonable and life-threatening event, makes you smile and wish you were side-by-side with him instead of Kevin Hart.

As far as the plot is concerned, I can safely say that even if it is something you might have stumbled upon before, it still has the right twists and turns and all the reasons to go ahead and watch it, especially if you are into comedies that have a drop of action in every scene. It unravels very smoothly and the moment you think that you want more funny lines, the action catches you up and, after it ends, you want more action but you cannot stop laughing with the next scene and then another action scene is on and this really goes on and on until the end of the movie.

This film cheers you up with the funny lines and the act of the actors and, at the same time, the action that this movie offers combined with these two different characters, keep you away from getting bored and pushes your adrenaline high enough so that you can feel like you are there and not in your sofa at home.

Check it out and I promise you will not regret it.

I will be back next Friday with another one of my favorite movies that you must watch.

Until then, leave your comments below and let us know what your thoughts on this movie are and if you enjoyed watching it.
