Friday Film: “Kingsman: The secret Service”

Are you ready to watch one of the greatest action movies centered on a spy organization that’s going to blow your mind? So great that they decided to make a second one that’s coming up on the big screen in September?

For this week’s Friday film I decided to pick my favorite action movie for all of you who still haven’t established which movie you are going to watch for the weekend yet. That is of course Matthew Vaughn’s 2014 film “Kingsman: The Secret Service”. Vaughn is known for many great movies including “Kick-Ass”, “Fantastic Four” and “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” and this one is also going to not disappoint you at all. “Kingsman” is also an adaptation of a comic book called “The Secret Service” by authors Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons.

The film stars Gary “Eggsy” Unwin (Taron Egerton), a teenage boy that gets trained in order to become the new spy Kingsman organization desperately needs. But it’s not that easy as it seems since he has to pass a dozen of tests along with a bunch of other teenage children in order to shine and become a true agent qualified for saving lives in the future. His mentor is no other than Harry Galahad (Colin Firth), who is already a successful secret agent and has a slight sympathy towards Eggsy who is, by the way, an offspring of a previous agent.

For the roles of the “bad guys” there is Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson) who is a lunatic billionaire that means no good for the mankind and his right-hand one-legged gorgeous and sexy assassin Gazelle (Sofia Boutela) who is there to support Valentine in times when some ass-kicking is necessary. Do I really need to say more?

Kingsman is the perfect movie for anyone who loves James Bond type kind of movies. It has plenty of action scenes that the word “awesomeness” is too little to describe exactly how you are going to feel while experiencing them. They are the type that never leaves you and you continue to remember them for a long period of time. Plus, every time you will get to watch an action film after this one, you will constantly get disappointed and eventually you will wish to have re-watched Kingsman instead of losing your time with some worthless action movie with a lot of effects that are not even needed in order for you to get excited and crazy over a film.

The plot is something you have never watched before in any other action movie. Of course it has the casual good-villain story but with a bit of a more original touches here and there. Needless to say that it establishes very well and especially after it introduces you and gets you attached to all of the characters, which is important when it comes to movies with more than two main characters. And even at the very end it serves you with an exciting last scene that makes you want more which is probably the reason why our prayers were heard and we get to have a second Kingsman in the near future.

Apart from the action and the story that this movie offers you, the characters are also the ones you will adore and love until the last minute. The actors’ performances are memorable and simply terrific and every character is unique. And yes, this also goes for the villains who are truly the love-to-hate-them kind of characters and their only purpose is to get you overwhelmed with them to the point that you might actually change sides for a slight minute and then get sane again and side up with the “good guys”. And did I mention that these gentlemen are dressed in suits, carry an umbrella and are ready to fight you anytime in any place with style?

Kingsman is one of the greatest action movies you will ever watch. It is intelligent, thrilling, mind-blowing and more than awesome. And since there is a sequel coming up soon, it’s the perfect time for you to watch the first one and keep up in order to watch the next one in the cinemas. Trust me it will be worth your time.

I’ll be back next Friday with another one of my favorite movies that you must watch.

Until then, leave your comments below and let us know what your thoughts on this movie are and if you enjoyed watching it.
